Yamhill-Carlton, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Stardance is a special vineyard, and we love that it gives us the opportunity to make two wonderfully distinct Pinot Noirs from the same vintage. One of the few vineyards in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA planted on volcanic rather than the region’s more typical marine sedimentary soils, Stardance produces beautifully mineral wines with a more red-fruited expression of Pinot Noir. Its own-rooted Pommard vines, planted in 2003 deep in the coastal foothills, give the 2024 wine aromas of strawberry, lavender, warm spice, and slate. On the palate, savory spice from the whole-cluster fermentation comes through alongside tea and forest floor, adding warmth and complexity to the bright citrus and red fruit. This is a standout wine with plenty of personality already but give it a year or two in bottle and we think it will really blossom.
